Bevel cutting and chamfering of plates for welding

Plate bevelling is done in the same pass in which we cut the part. The component comes off the table with a weld-ready edge.

  • No second operation and no setting up the part a second time
  • No day lost to the angle grinder before welding
  • We bevel plates, pipes and sections

What you gain by ordering bevelling together with cutting

The traditional sequence looks like this: cut the part, transport it, set it up at a workstation, bevel it by hand with a grinder or milling cutter, check the angle, and only then weld. That is a second operation, a second cost and a second lead time.

With us, bevelling is part of the cut. One setup, one pass, one lead time. The angle is repeatable on every piece in a batch, because it is guided by the machine, not by hand.

Schematic drawing: three ways of preparing an edge for welding. You specify the angle on the drawing — we cut it together with the part.

What we bevel

Plates

Plates up to 12 000 × 3 000 mm, plasma cut up to 40 mm thick. We bevel along the outer contour and along internal cut-outs.

Pipes

Pipes with diameters from 60 to 650 mm. Bevelling of pipe ends for circumferential welds — for pipelines and structural nodes this is the most frequently ordered operation.

Profiles and sections

HEB 100–600 beams, HP 60–430 sections, channels, angles, flat bars up to 400 × 35 mm and hollow sections. The robotic MultiProfiler 3D line bevels edges automatically, during the cut, on lengths up to 12 metres.

Bevelling and chamfering — are they the same

In workshop practice both terms are used interchangeably and we treat them the same way: it means cutting the edge at an angle to prepare it for welding.

To be precise: bevelling is the preparation of a material edge for a welded joint, while chamfering is a broader term — cutting an edge at an angle also when the aim is simply to remove a sharp edge. Whether you order bevelling or chamfering from us, you get the same thing: an edge cut at the specified angle, ready for further processing.

Who we do this for

Bevelling is most often ordered from us by companies in construction, shipbuilding and offshore — wherever a structure is welded from thick components and the quality of the weld depends on how the edge was prepared.

We take on single parts as well as whole batches of components for one structure.

How to order

  1. Drawing

You send a DXF, DWG or STEP file with the bevel angle marked.

  2. Quote in 24 h

We send back a quote and confirm the machine slot.

  3. Cutting and bevelling

Your material or ours — to be agreed at the quotation stage.

  4. Collection

You collect the finished components in Szczecin at ul. Antosiewicza 1.

Frequently asked questions

Is bevelling a separate service or part of the cut?

Part of the cut. The 3D head chamfers the edge in the same pass in which it cuts the part — it is not a second operation.

Up to what plate thickness do you bevel?

Up to 40 mm — that is the plasma cutting thickness on our cutting machine. Thicker plates, up to 150 mm, are cut with the oxy-fuel torch.

Do you bevel pipes?

Yes, with diameters from 60 to 650 mm.

What bevel angle can I order?

You specify the angle on the drawing. The band saw cuts profiles at 0°, 45° and 60°; the cutting machine guides the bevel in 3D according to the documentation.

Do you bevel stainless steel or aluminium?

We work with carbon steel. For other materials please contact us — we consider them individually.

Can I bring my own material?

Yes. The material can be supplied by you or by us — we agree on this at the quotation stage.

What file formats do you accept?

DXF, DWG and STEP.
